ken-hall-headshotOn October 2nd, 2018, Southern Utah University welcomed Ken Hall, former Petsmart Inc. CMO and current Director of the SUU Master of Business Administration Program, as a speaker for the Entrepreneurship Speaker Series. The Entrepreneurship Speaker Series is a course on campus that invites various successful business owners and executives to present to the class each week. Speakers present on their accomplishments, challenges, and wisdom they’ve gained from their path to success.

During Hall’s presentation, he told SUU students about his journey with Petsmart, and getting the company back on its feet after a dramatic downfall. He also gave students advice on achieving success in both life and in business.

Hall first attended Brigham Young University, where he earned his bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering. He then went on to attend Harvard Business School where he received his MBA. After graduating from BYU, he worked as a Chemical Engineer Economist for EXXON. Hall then began working as a consultant for a Global Management Consulting Firm from 1999 to 2000 with Bain & Company, Inc.

Hall has spent the majority of his time working with the nation-wide and well-known company, Petsmart Inc. With Petsmart, he has worked as the Vice President of Planning and Customer Relationship, Chief Marketing Officer, SVP of Merchandising, Senior Vice President, and Senior Vice President of Strategic Planning and Business Development. He currently serves as a Board Member for Whitebridge Pet Brands.

More recently, SUU has been honored to have Hall as the director of the MBA program. Hall has been a great asset to the university, teaching several classes and becoming a valued mentor to many students.

“Ken Hall gave an amazing presentation,” said Jeremy Waite, senior accounting major. “I really enjoyed it because he shared personal examples that were not only interesting, but also extremely helpful. He did a great job helping students understand how they can apply the principles he taught in both their personal lives and their careers.”

The Entrepreneurship Speaker Series is a one credit upper division class, designed to give students the opportunity to learn from successful business owners. There are no prerequisites and the class is open to any majors. All students are welcome to attend, even if they are not enrolled in the course. The class is held Tuesdays from 11:30-12:20 in the Dixie L. Leavitt Business Building in room 126.
