PaintTownRed1Belonging to one of SUU’s sororities or fraternities means belonging to something bigger than yourself while making memories and life-long friends. Membership in the Greek community is also about leadership experiences, becoming part of a community and giving back.

SUU is home to four Greek-letter organizations:

Sorority

Alpha Phi

Delta Psi Omega

Fraternity

Sigma Chi

Chi Phi

Every year Greek students provide hundreds of hours of community service, raise thousands of dollars for charities and build leadership skills.

Here are 3 top reasons why you should go greek:

  1. Camaraderie: When you join a fraternity or sorority, you will instantly make more friends than you can count. These organizations can offer a gentle push for those who need a little bit of help meeting people and making new friends. These friends you make around campus will help you feel included and at home while you attend school. They will be there to support you during any rough times and celebrate your successes. Greeks host several philanthropic and social events around campus to build a welcoming and positive relationship within their respective groups and with others around the university.
  1. Philanthropy & Service: All four of the Greek organizations are all associated with a own designated philanthropic causes.  Each organization spends the year hosting events to raise money for different non-profit organizations. Sigma Chi fundraises for the Huntsman Cancer Institute, Alpha Phi for Women's Cardiac Care, Delta Psi Omega works with several international and local charities and Chi Phi raises money for Camp Kesem.  These groups also spend a great deal of time volunteering their time to make a positive difference in their communities.
  1. Networking: When you join Greek Life at SUU a giant web of Greek alumni across the world will become available to you. This will help you build a wide variety of connections with individuals around campus and in your field of study. This networking allows you to find alumni working in your field, asking for advice on how to be successful, what they did to get where they are, as well as, having them be a letter of recommendation or a reference.
The Greeks at Southern Utah University are dedicated to supporting their school and local community. Joining these types of organizations is a great avenue to get involved in campus right away and building necessary leadership and social skills.
