Meet Our Professors: Briget Eastep, Outdoor Recreation

Dr. Briget Eastep, Southern Utah University’s Director of Outdoor Engagement, began her career as an outdoor educator in 1991 as a Ranger at Philmont Boy Scout Ranch in New Mexico. She is now an associate professor for outdoor recreation who works with campus and community partners to broaden opportunities in service learning and experiential education. Under her tutelage students gain involvement and leadership skills while giving back to their local public lands.

Athletic Training Student Named College of Education and Human Development Valedictorian

Roy, Utah native Steven Hadley has always had a love for the world of athletics. His enjoyment of basketball, football, fishing, hiking, and spending time outdoors lead to his pursuit of a bachelor’s degree in athletic training. Though he began his college career at Snow College, he chose to transfer to Southern Utah University after attending to a recruiting fair and being offered a scholarship.

Meet Our Professors: Kelly Goonan, Outdoor Recreation

Dr. Kelly Goonan developed a passion for the outdoors while working at summer camp in the Adirondack Mountains of New York. For ten summers during her high school and college years, she worked at the Boy Scout camp, Sabattis Scout Reservation. Her duties included teaching outdoor skills such as swimming, snorkeling and lifeguard certification and taking scouts on wilderness trips.

Kathy Wyatt, wife of President Scott L Wyatt, dropped out of college to support her husband through law school and raise their son. Money was tight and they were worried about student loans. Years later she has returned to college to earn a degree in Family Life and Human Development.
